Education:
Dr. Stein graduated cum laude from Tulane University and went on to receive his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine. He completed a general surgery internship at Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania before returning to New Orleans to finish his three-year Residency in Ophthalmology at Tulane University. He went on to receive further subspecialty training in Glaucoma at UNC Chapel Hill where he completed a Glaucoma fellowship.

Dr. Stein takes pride in offering his patients the newest and safest treatment options available. He was the first doctor in Charlotte to perform two new and innovative minimally invasive glaucoma surgeries. He was also the first doctor in North Carolina to administer a treatment option called DURYSTATM, a biodegradable sustained release glaucoma implant that represents a paradigm shift in the treatment of Glaucoma. He continues to remain at the leading edge of new glaucoma treatment options as he strives to provide excellent care for his patients.

Personal Background:
Dr. Stein is originally from New Jersey. He met his wife, Freesia, a passionate educator, in New Orleans. Dr. Stein loves being dad to his toddler son and two fur babies (a cat named Leo and a chiweenie named Link), woodworking, brewing beer, hiking, camping, and cooking. He makes a mean gumbo and his jambalaya is known around the Horizon offices! Dr. Stein earned his SCUBA certification back in 2017 and has since loved exploring under the sea in different regions of the world.
