Dr. Brent Hoffman II is a Charlotte-native ophthalmologist specializing in cornea and external diseases, cataract surgery, and comprehensive ophthalmology. Known for his commitment to both his patients and his community, he brings world-class surgical expertise back home to the Charlotte area, combining a genuine investment in the people he serves with the highest level of subspecialty care.

Education & Training
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of UNC Chapel Hill, Dr. Hoffman earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he was selected as Chief Resident, before pursuing fellowship training in Cornea, External Disease, and Refractive Surgery at the prestigious Legacy Health Devers Eye Institute in Portland, Oregon, training alongside world pioneers in endothelial corneal transplantation.
Memberships & Recognition
Dr. Hoffman has co-authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and textbook chapters and has presented his research at regional and national meetings, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea and Eye Banking Forum. He is an active educator, teaching DMEK surgical techniques at the AAO’s annual meeting to ophthalmologists from around the world.
Earlier in his career, he served as Clinic Director for the Greenville Community Shelter Clinic, reflecting a longstanding dedication to service and expanding access to care for underserved populations.
