Dry eye syndrome occurs when your eyes don’t produce enough tears or when your tears evaporate too quickly. A healthy tear film has three layers, including oil, water, and mucus, and a problem with any layer can lead to dry eye symptoms including burning, stinging, grittiness, and blurred vision.
