Dr. Jonathan Minkowski brings a unique combination of advanced training and a patient-centered approach to the care he provides. Practicing since 2021, he specializes in cataract surgery, LASIK, and the medical and surgical management of corneal disease, pairing state-of-the-art surgical techniques with a thoughtful, approachable style that helps patients feel at ease throughout their treatment.
In addition to presenting original research at national conferences, Dr. Minkowski has volunteered at community ophthalmology clinics and participated in medical mission work abroad. His diverse experiences, from clinical trial coordination to hands-on service to the underserved, reflect a commitment to advancing eye care while keeping patients at the heart of his practice.

Dr. Jonathan Minkowski is a fellowship-trained cornea and cataract specialist with expertise spanning laser vision correction, corneal transplantation, and comprehensive management of corneal and ocular surface disease.

Education & Training
Dr. Minkowski earned his Bachelor’s degree, Cum Laude, from Skidmore College before completing his Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College in Chicago, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and received the William Hamlin Wilder, MD Endowed Scholarship. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Rush University Medical Center, serving as Co-Chief Resident in his final year.
He then completed a fellowship in Cornea, Cataract, External Disease & Refractive Surgery at Eye Consultants of Atlanta, Piedmont Hospital, advanced training that prepared him for the complex procedures he performs at Horizon Eye Care today.
Memberships & Recognition
Dr. Minkowski is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Cornea Society. He has presented original research at multiple national ophthalmology conferences and has volunteered as a physician at community clinics serving the homeless and underserved, including international mission work in Honduras.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Minkowski and his wife are raising two children in Charlotte. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing racket sports and golf, exploring the outdoors, and pursuing his interest in astronomy.
