Routine Eye Care

Did you know eye doctors are often the first to diagnose chronic systemic diseases?

According to a recent study by Vision Service Plan, 65 percent of the time indications of high cholesterol were found on an eye exam.

For diabetes, it was 20 percent of the time, and for hypertension, it was 30 percent of the time. In fact, some diseases can only be diagnosed by eye doctors.  The Nation Institute of Health estimates 2.3 million Americans suffer from glaucoma. It is estimated that an additional 2 million have the disease but don’t know it.

A comprehensive eye exam is essential for early diagnosis and prevention of sight threatening problems.  But equally as important, special care is necessary to make sure you are seeing your best, whether in glasses or contact lenses.

The doctors at Horizon Eye Care are specialists in comprehensive eye exams but also have fellowship trained sub-specialty care in all areas of eye disease.  We utilize state of the art equipment, some found only at large academic centers, to aid in the diagnosis and management of all types of diseases and vision problems.  From infants to adults, we have the right doctor for you and your family.
