LASIK

LASIK surgery (or LaserAssisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is a type of refractive surgery used to treat nearsightedness, astigmatism, and farsightedness by changing the cornea’s curvature.

Horizon began performing corneal refractive surgery in 1985, followed by Laser Vision Correction in 1993, and Lasik in 1997.  We offer our patients exceptional care and results with our fully-equipped LASIK center, dedicated solely to performing this procedure.

LASIK has gained popularity among patients due to its short recovery time and limited postoperative pain. Patients heal rapidly reducing the need for prolonged medication and allowing both eyes to be treated at the same time. Most people experience about 12 hours of mild irritation after their LASIK similar to the feeling of dirty contact lenses. One dose of Tylenol is typically all most people need and most patients return to work within 48 hours.

In 2009, Sightpath Medical named Horizon Eye Care as a Top 25 Practice in the U.S. for continued surgical excellence, exceptional patient care, and demonstrating surgical expertise through a high volume of refractive surgeries.

Intacs For Keratoconus
Intacs corneal implants provide a unique new option to improve vision and defer a corneal transplant in most patients. Intacs are indicated for the correction of nearsightedness and astigmatism for patients and keratoconus, where contact lenses and glasses no longer proved suitabe vision.

Visian ICL
The Visian ICL is an implantable Collamer Lens that works with the eye to correct vision.  Unlike traditional contact lenses that go on the surface of the eye, the Visian ICL is positioned inside the eye between the iris (the colored part of the eye) and the natural lens where it stays indefinitely. If your vision changes dramatically however, it can be removed from the eye.
