Education: Graduating with honors from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Weidman completed his doctorate at West Virginia University School of Medicine, where he was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and received the Smith Kline and French Award for Outstanding Academic and Excellent Clinical Performance. This was followed by his internship in medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX, and ophthalmology residency at the Hermann Eye Center at the University Of Texas Medical School in Houston, where he served as chief resident and garnered awards for research. His education was further defined by a fellowship in disease of the retina and vitreous at the Texas Medical Center and a sabbatical at the National Eye Institute uveitis clinic in Bethesda, MD.
Special Interests: Dr. Weidman specializes in medical and surgical diseases of the retina and vitreous. These include diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachments, vitreous hemorrhage and macular diseases, such as macular degeneration, macular holes and macular pucker.
Personal Background: Dr. Weidman and his wife, Bernie, have two sons, Davis and Will. Dr. Weidman enjoys traveling with his family as well as playing various sports.
