Education: Dr. Marshall is a graduate of Davidson College and earned his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, This was followed by a rotating internship and residency in ophthalmology at the Medical College of Virginia, where he served as chief resident. In addition, he completed a fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, TX. He has been in private practice in Charlotte since 1978.
Professional Highlights: Between his internship and ophthalmology residency, Dr. Marshall served as captain in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and physician at Davidson College. His academic appointments have been Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Carolina Medical School and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Carolina. He has also lectured on both the local and national level on a variety of topics. A strong advocate for children's eye care, Dr. Marshall instituted eye screening examinations for premature infants in the neonatal intensive care units at Charlotte-area hospitals. He has served as Chairman of Ophthalmology department at both Presbyterian and Carolina Medical Center.
Special Interests: Dr. Marshall is interested in all medical and surgical conditions of infancy and childhood, as well as adult muscle imbalances.
Personal Background: A native of South Carolina, Dr. Marshall and his wife, Martha Jean, have two sons, Charles and Edward.
