BOTOX Cosmetic

Charlotte, North Carolina

A million people have been treated with BOTOX ® Cosmetic since its FDA approval in 2002.

In fact, BOTOX Cosmetic is the only FDA- approved treatment for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, crows feet, and horizontal wrinkles in the forehead in patients 18 to 65 years of age.

Proven. Simple. Effective
Ten minutes-a few tiny injections- and within days there's a noticeable improvement. No recovery or downtime. You can even receive BOTOX Cosmetic treatment on your lunch break. Results last up to six months. Individual results may vary.

BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of those muscles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out, and the moderate to severe frown lines between your brows begin to fade.

BOTOX® injections, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), were the top nonsurgical procedure for 2007. That’s true for both men and women. There were 2,775,176 procedures performed that year. In 2006, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), there were 4.1 million BOTOX procedures performed.

How Does BOTOX Work?

It is not an injectable filler, which are also popular ways to improve the facial appearance. It works by blocking nerve impulses traveling from the brain to a given muscle. Without receiving the message telling it to contract, that muscle remains relaxed. This allows the skin to remain unwrinkled each time, and gradually it will smooth out, reducing moderate to severe frown lines.

The BOTOX Procedure

The procedure is quick, easy, and effective, and many people have it done on their lunch hour. Your doctor will determine exactly where to place the injections so as to achieve the best results.
  • No anesthetic is usually required, although the area may be numbed beforehand with an icepack or anesthetic cream
  • The procedure takes about ten minutes
  • You can return to your normal activity immediately afterwards
  • You will see results just a day or two after your treatment, and the area could continue improving for up to a week
  • Results will last for about four to six months, after which you can have a repeat treatment
