Dr. Elizabeth Waller joins Horizon Eye Care

Charlotte, North Carolina

Elizabeth R. Waller MD has joined the staff of Horizon Eye Care as a neuro-ophthalmologist and will work in Cotswold and Pineville offices. When she begins work on Oct. 1, she’ll be one of only a handful of neuro-ophthalmologists in the Charlotte region.

Elizabeth R. Waller, MD, is a specialist in medical and surgical correction of double vision and management of optic nerve diseases.

“We are excited to have someone with Dr. Waller’s training and highly specialized expertise as part of Horizon Eye Care. It is important to us to have doctors who are specialists in different fields, so having a dedicated neuro-ophthalmologist on staff will increase the quality and timeliness of care we are able to offer to our patients,” said Dr. Paul G. Galentine, chairman of Horizon Eye Care.

Dr. Waller graduated with a bachelor of arts from Northwestern University, in Evanston, Ill. She received her medical doctor’s degree from MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine, in Philadelphia, where she was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She completed an internship in internal medicine at Abington Memorial Hospital, in Abington, Penn. Dr. Waller completed both her residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma’s Dean McGee Eye Institute in Oklahoma City. While there, she gained extensive experience in the medical and surgical treatment of double vision and optic nerve diseases.

A member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Dr. Waller has presented on Visually Induced Vertigo at the Dean McGee Eye Institute Annual Alumni Day, and, most recently, she presented a case at the prestigious Walsh Session during the 2007 North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society meeting.
