Elizabeth R. Waller MD
has joined the staff of Horizon Eye Care as a neuro-ophthalmologist and
will work in Cotswold and Pineville offices. When she begins work on
Oct. 1, she’ll be one of only a handful of neuro-ophthalmologists in
the Charlotte region.
Elizabeth
R. Waller, MD, is a specialist in medical and surgical correction of
double vision and management of optic nerve diseases.
“We are
excited to have someone with Dr. Waller’s training and highly
specialized expertise as part of Horizon Eye Care. It is important to
us to have doctors who are specialists in different fields, so having a
dedicated neuro-ophthalmologist on staff will increase the quality and
timeliness of care we are able to offer to our patients,” said Dr. Paul
G. Galentine, chairman of Horizon Eye Care.
Dr. Waller graduated
with a bachelor of arts from Northwestern University, in Evanston, Ill.
She received her medical doctor’s degree from MCP-Hahnemann School of
Medicine, in Philadelphia, where she was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha
Medical Honor Society. She completed an internship in internal medicine
at Abington Memorial Hospital, in Abington, Penn. Dr. Waller completed
both her residency in ophthalmology and fellowship in
neuro-ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma’s Dean McGee Eye
Institute in Oklahoma City. While there, she gained extensive
experience in the medical and surgical treatment of double vision and
optic nerve diseases.
A member of the American Academy of
Ophthalmology, Dr. Waller has presented on Visually Induced Vertigo at
the Dean McGee Eye Institute Annual Alumni Day, and, most recently, she
presented a case at the prestigious Walsh Session during the 2007 North
American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society meeting.
