When to See an Ophthalmologist

At Horizon Eye Care in Charlotte, North Carolina, we have met with thousands of different patients to help them gain the vision they want. Unfortunately, many people wait to come to our ophthalmology offices until their vision is really bothering them.

When patients wait this long to work with an experienced ophthalmologist, it prevents them from taking full advantage of all the ophthalmologist has to offer. The ophthalmologists at our eye care centers are trained in early detection and treatment of all your vision and eye health problems.

Ideally, patients should be coming to an experienced ophthalmologist at least twice a year. Doing this allows the ophthalmologist to pinpoint any possible eye diseases or refractive problems before they really hurt your sight.

Although regular eye exams are great to manage your eye health, your ophthalmologist should also be contacted as soon as possible if you experience any of the following symptoms:

  • Excessive Tearing
  • Discharge From the Eyes
  • Swelling Around or on the Eyes
  • Redness or Irritation
  • Twitching Eyes
  • Wandering Eyes
  • Double Vision or Blurry Vision
  • Halos Around Objects

These symptoms may be cause by very serious eye problems like glaucoma, cataracts, Age-Related Macular Degeneration, or many other eye diseases or conditions.

If you live in the Charlotte, North Carolina area and are looking for an experienced ophthalmologist to schedule regular eye exams with, or if you have experienced any of the symptoms above, please contact Horizon Eye Care to schedule an initial consultation.
