A little over two years ago Horizon Eye Care installed a new clinical software program called EyeRoute. This product was developed by Anka Systems, which is a division of Topcon Medical Systems, Inc. This product is similar to the picture archiving systems that the field of radiology has used for years.
The field of Ophthalmology uses a significant number of testing machines to obtain very specialized information about your eye. A few of these specialized machines are the visual field, flourescein angiography, ocular computerized topography, ocular biometry, etc. These machines are all on their own database within the machine itself which historically made it cumbersome to provide your eye doctor with all of your test results.
EyeRoute interfaces with all of these machines and stores the test results in a HIPAA compliant, web-based application. This means that your eye doctor now has access to all of your test results with the click of a mouse from any exam room in any of our offices.
EyeRoute is an example of a clinical initiative that has helped us control our cost of doing business while at the same time has improved the quality of the medical systems at Horizon Eye Care.
