Horizon Eye Care Proud to Have One of Charlotte’s “Top Doctors”
 
  For decades, Horizon Eye Care has provided the residents of the greater Charlotte, North Carolina area with excellent vision care. Horizon was actually the first practice in Charlotte to perform corneal refractive surgery over twenty years ago in 1985. Horizon was then the first to provide Laser Vision Correction (1993) and LASIK (1997). Recently, one of Horizon’s physicians, Dr. David N. Ugland was named as one of Charlotte’s top physicians in the field of ophthalmology.

Dr. Ugland has been an ophthalmologist in Charlotte since 1985 and is currently the team ophthalmologist and LASIK surgeon for the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte’s NFL team. After receiving his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Ugland attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his internship at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin. He then served as chief resident at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Ugland has also completed a Cornea-External Disease fellowship and is currently the Medical Director for the Eye Bank of Life Share of the Carolina, an agency that procures corneas from the deceased in order to implant them and restore vision to those suffering from various vision problems.

“Charlotte” magazine mails surveys to all of the physicians with active medical licenses in the following counties:

  • Mecklenburg,
  • Gaston
  • Union
  • Cabarrus

The survey asked the doctors who they would contact if they, or a loved one, needed medical care. “Charlotte” obtained the list of physicians from the North Carolina Medical Board; there’s a good chance, however, that you are not on the list and may be wondering why. The list provided by the NC Medical Board only includes 7% of area physicians. If you have re-located and did not provide Board with your new address, you would not have received a survey.
