Lewis R. Gaskin, MD

Education:

Raised in Charlotte, Dr. Gaskin attended Myers Park High School and earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Wake Forest University. He received his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, and then completed his internship at Northwestern University in Chicago. In 1981, he returned to Emory University where he completed his residency in Ophthalmology.

Professional Highlights:

In addition to his work with patients at Horizon Eye Care, Dr. Gaskin previously served as team ophthalmologist for the Carolina Panthers as well as the Charlotte Hornets. He has held the position of Chief Resident of Ophthalmology at Emory University, Chief of Ophthalmology for Carolina Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital, and president for the N.C. Society to Prevent Blindness. Dr. Gaskin has also lent his expertise as past director of Piedmont Eye Clinic, and as a fund-raiser for Discovery Place,  Science Museum and local hospital capital fund campaigns. He has served as Chairman on the Board of Visitors for the Wake Forest University Divinity School. Dr. Gaskin is involved in a number of non-profit organizations, including Prevent Blindness NC.

Personal Background:
